Bob Kates passed away April 21, 2018. For six decades Bob pioneered environment and society scholarship, on weighty matters such as climate change, nuclear winter, hunger, and, at the start, flooding.

Most of what I have written has been read by only a few, much of what I have written is unknown or unavailable to my collegial community. Yet there appears to be a small, but continuing interest, as evidenced by the annual inquiries from students in introductory graduate seminars or by colleagues needing a footnote, introductory biography, or a Curriculum Vitae. Thus this web site, containing, when finished, a continuing electronic archive of my published work and supplemental materials such as an up-to-date CV, a few photographs and documents of interest, and links to other sites where I have affiliations. It is very much a work in progress.
